Ink Production: first Dolby Atmos post-production center in France
‘En Solitaire’ will be the first French film mixed with Dolby immersive sound.
The post-production studio Ink Production, based in Paris, has become the first French center to have Dolby Atmos. As of June 2013, Solo, directed by Christophe Offenstein and produced by Gaumont/Les Films du Cap, will be the first French film to be mixed with Dolby Atmos in Ink Production.
Julian Pinn, Director of Cinema Marketing at Dolby Laboratories, highlights that "Since its launch last year, the industry response to Dolby Atmos has been incredibly positive, and it is quickly becoming the preferred choice for next-generation cinema sound globally. Ink Production joins a growing number of post-production studios around the world, and we can't wait to see the results of their efforts."
For his part, Alexandre Widmer, general director of Ink Production, maintains that "at Ink we always do everything possible to be at the forefront of technological innovation and offer the best and the latest to our clients. We are extremely excited to be the first center in France to have this new system, which says a lot about Ink's position as a post-production leader in France."
Solo, scheduled to premiere in France in November 2013, tells the story of skipper Yann, who sees his dream come true by joining the Vendée Globe world yacht regatta at the last minute. After nine days at the head of the race, Yann is forced to dock in the Canary Islands to repair the rudder of his boat. When he returns to sail, Yann discovers a stowaway on board: it is Mano, a young man from Mauritania. That meeting will mark the beginning of the most unforgettable trip around the world ever told.
Since its launch a little over a year ago, around 40 movies have been released or announced with Dolby Atmos sound. With more than 100 screens ready and more than 20 post-production centers around the world capable of performing Dolby Atmos sound mixes, it is becoming one of the fastest-adopted multichannel formats in cinema.
