On the second day of their annual Brightcove PLAY user conference, they present a solution capable of offering high-quality live content through computers, smartphones, tablets and connected televisions.

Brightcove Video Cloud LiveBrightcove has officially introduced Brightcove Video Cloud Live, a module for multi-bitrate live content delivery that allows marketing professionals and communications groups to deliver high-quality live content across computers, smartphones, tablets and connected televisions.

Video Cloud Live aims to change the game in today's live event broadcast landscape by enabling content editors with any level of technical knowledge to use the familiar Video Cloud environment to manage the entire lifecycle of a live broadcast. With intuitive setup, access to real-time analytics, monetization opportunities through advertising integration, and automatic constitution of live content within a library of on-demand assets, Video Cloud Live makes broadcasting live events as easy as it should be.

Taking a look at the new statistical data presented by Accenture we can see that 29% of tablet owners say they watch live content through their device; 53% of those who have television with Internet access stream live content, and 21% of respondents enjoy live events on their mobile devices or smartphones. These figures clearly indicate an increase in demand and consumer expectations regarding the broadcast of content in real time by television networks and brands of all sizes.

By talking to its customers, Brightcove has learned from the difficulties they have encountered when using traditional, multi-purpose tools for live content delivery (installation and management issues, complex monetization, and difficulty finding analytics and monitoring alternatives that include the option of integrating content into the Video Cloud library).

Main features

  • A simple workflow: just include the basic data (title, description, tags, date and duration), select a custom player from the Video Cloud publishing module, and then select or adjust the recommended encoding settings.
  • Users only need a high-quality RTMP of their event, Video Cloud Live encodes it at different qualities, with variable bitrates – in both RTMP and HLS formats – through Brightcove's Zencoder Live Cloud Transcoding Service.
  • Brightcove's powerful analytics engine is able to provide real-time traffic and performance insights into users' live events.
  • Each content broadcast live through Video Cloud can be immediately stored in the library on demand by the user.
  • The amount of content that the same user can be transferring simultaneously is unlimited.
