Magine, a new IPTV platform that will be released in autumn
After its launch in Sweden and Germany, this IPTV platform co-founded by Matias Hjelmstedt and Xavier Ritort arrives in Spain.
Magine, the new television platform that arrives in Spain. In a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere, Matias Hjelmstedt, CEO of Magine, presented this Thursday in Madrid the new way of watching television, an experience that allows the viewer to enjoy their favorite content whenever, wherever and on the device they want. With this new service, which arrives today in our market in a phase prior to its commercial launch next fall, the user can watch their favorite channel, their favorite program, the long-awaited movie or the most desired series, wherever and whenever they want, whether on their smartphone, tablet, computer or Smart TV.
With its own pioneering technology, Hjelmstedt demonstrated how easy it is to access the best television content, whether live or delayed, and on all types of screens, without the need for annoying decoders, long cables or complicated installations. In addition, the simplicity of its interface makes it easy to use for all types of users.
This new television format adapts to the needs of each viewer, who can easily and simply choose the channel, program, movie or series they want to enjoy at all times through a visual and intuitive programming guide.
Magine is a subscription service that offers the most “free” way to watch television, with a simple and elegant user experience, at high speed and with high-quality images. In addition, it makes it possible to convert the smartphone or tablet into the remote control of a Smart TV, which allows the user to move freely through all the content or use these devices as a second viewing screen.
The company is reaching agreements with the main national and international television channels to provide content for this new service. Magine will be available through applications for different mobile platforms and through any browser window. The applications will be obtained free of charge in each of the online stores of each of the platforms. Today, applications are available for iPhone and iPad users. The application for Android smartphones and tablets will reach the Spanish market in a few weeks.
The definitive version of Magine will arrive in Spain after the summer with a single rate of around 10 euros per month. For just over 30 cents a day, less than a coffee or a beer, the user will be able to enjoy the most attractive television channels whenever and wherever they want.
Magine's content management will be a long-time professional, Michael Turner.
A different proposal born in northern Europe
This new television platform is different from any other right now on the market in our country. Magine is a new way to access television content anywhere and at any time, whether at home, in the office, at the bus stop, in the car, in the park or on the beach, always with the same subscription. A single user will be able to watch several different programs at the same time on different devices if they wish.
The company was founded in 2011 in Sweden, the country where its creators come from, and a few weeks ago it also became known in Germany. Spain is the third European country that will be able to enjoy Magine. The company's forecasts are that the United Kingdom and Norway will be the next markets in which the platform will soon arrive. The company has reached a capital increase agreement worth 19 million dollars that guarantees international expansion, with Spain being one of the first countries where Magine will be present.
The Spanish television market
One of the key data to see the preferences of citizens in Spain is television consumption, which stands at almost four and a half hours per person per day, according to a report by Kantar Media, a figure that has not stopped growing since 2007, except for a small dip in 2009. What's more, according to the study Television: traditional versus online, carried out by the Association for Media Research (AIMC), 43% of Spaniards already watch television via the Internet.
Furthermore, according to work by the market research company Gfk, 35% of Spanish homes this year will have a television connected to the internet, either directly or through other devices, such as tablets, consoles, computers or mobile phones. It also reveals that in 2013 19 million of these devices (TV, tablet, PC and smart mobile phones) will be sold.
Finally, the most recent study by the National Telecommunications Observatory (Onsi), published in June of this year, reveals that 23.4% of Spanish homes have pay television (via cable, satellite, Internet or other systems) and that the penetration rate has grown compared to the previous year. Specifically, it went from 3.8 million homes with pay television in 2011 to 4.1 million in 2012.
