DogTv: DirecTv creates the first channel aimed at dogs

Designed for very special viewers, dogs, DirecTv has just presented a very special channel. DogTv will be the first channel aimed at these pets with a programming schedule that will feature musicals, animations and the appearance of humans.

The images have colors that are attractive to dogs and the sounds include frequency ranges adapted to their auditory system.

The contents have been developed by Professor Nicholas Dodman, veterinarian and director of clinical sciences at Tufts University in Massachusetts; dog trainer Victoria Stilwell; and animal rights activist and trainer Warren Eckstein.

"It's more than just entertainment for dogs. We're creating an environment," said Gilad Neumann, the chief executive of DirecTV, who noted that many canines suffer from separation anxiety from their owners.

On the other hand, the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) is not sure that the purpose of the chain works for all dogs, but noted that any relaxation and stimulation for pets is good.

In its long-term plans, the company plans to launch the channel in other countries and also plans to create another platform for cats.
