Quantum, the Portable Audio Codec from Prodys, in IBC 2013
Quantum is a powerful portable audio codec on IP with an audio mixer included and that is a leap forward with respect to the codecs of the nomadic family.
Prodys It will exhibit in IBC 2013 its new audio portable codec, Quantum. This solution inherits the first -class IP technology used in the IKUSNET video codec family: automatic jitter buffer, adaptive binary regime, bonding of up to 7 IP bonds (Ethernet, 3G/4G, WIFI) to ensure audio streaming and obtain the best possible audio quality.
A wireless communications module is also available with up to four 3G/4G links for bonding. This module is external to get a better reception.
The equipment has 3 stereo audio inputs (5 Mic/Line Mono inputs) that can be mixed, encoded and transmitted forming a stereo stream.
Solidstream
IBC will also be an excellent opportunity to know Solidstream, a transmission protocol developed by Prodys that allows the user to transmit the same audio stream on two different IP networks. These IP networks can be Ethernet+Ethernet, Ethernet+3G or 3G+3G. It is also possible to use 4G connectivity where it is available.
Solidstream provides redundancy and allows quality audio transmission for STL links on low -cost IP connections.
The possibility of combining Ethernet and 3G/4G allows to reinforce existing IP connections in a very economical way since it would not be necessary to build any additional infrastructure.
This protocol is also very interesting in portable applications as it makes it possible to establish very reliable communications using two 3G/4G connections of different suppliers.
Opus
Prodys will also carry Opus demonstrations at Amsterdam, a fully open coding algorithm, royalties free and very versatile. It has been designed with the transmission of voice and music conversations through the Internet. The algorithm has been standardized by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) in RFC 6716.
Prodys has decided to complete its wide catalog of coding algorithms by adding OPUS to its equipment, taking into account its excellent function in voice coding to very low binary regimes.
Finally, note that coinciding with the IBC celebration, Prodys will make a new firmware version for its Family Prontonet teams.
This new version includes some important improvements such as Solidstream, a 4G modem for wireless contributions from the Nomada W and IPXL portable codecs and an interesting emergency solution that allows the audio output to switch over the reproduction of a file recorded on a USB memory device.
