The most international and convergent edition of 3D Wire has delivered, on its penultimate day, all the awards planned for 2013. The Quintanar Palace in Segovia has hosted the closing ceremony of the international market with the presence of local and regional authorities in a room packed with attendees.
New this year, the 3D Wire Fest was held, a competitive festival that has screened the best national and European animated short films and that will give the winners the option to participate in Cartoon d'Or, the prestigious European award, in its 2014 edition. This is the first opportunity that Spanish animators have to participate in the award and all thanks to the fact that 3D Wire has become an official Cartoon d'Or festival, the only one in all of Spain.
Thus, Jesús Hernández, representative of the MEDIA Program of the European Union in Spain, has presented the Audience Award for Best International Short Film to 'Rabbit and Deer' by Péter Vácz, from Hungary. Special mention in the international section has gone to 'Pandy' by Matus Vizár, from Slovakia, made in 2D and focused on narrating how humans have taken panda bears as toys.
For its part, 'Jamón', by Iria López, has been awarded the Best National Short Film Award for “its subtle, disturbing and delicious story.” 'Canis', by Marc Riba and Anna Solanas and made in stop motion, has received the Special Mention from the Jury for National Short Film.
