Pistas Argentinas-Ironbox produces the main motor competitions with Grass Valley every weekend

A live production solution from Grass Valley meets the demands of motorsports for all motorsports, including cable extensions of up to 1,800 meters. Slow motion images to capture the events and excitement of car racing are key in these broadcasts.

Argentine Tracks-Ironbox produce Motorsports for Everyone, the motorsports program that covers the most important races in Argentina: Turismo Carretera, Turismo Nacional and TC Mouras.

The program is produced entirely outdoors 42 weekends a year, from February to December, covering all races held in the country. The program is produced and delivered to viewers in HD for free via terrestrial, cable, and satellite distribution.

To produce efficiently Motorsports for Everyone and capture the action at various venues, Pistas Argentinas-Ironbox SA partnered with Grass Valley and its systems integrator based in Buenos Aires FDM Broadcast, to access a variety of live production solutions.

The mobile production unit Motorsports for Everyone, from Pistas Argentinas-Ironbox, is equipped with 10 LDK 8000 triax cameras, two LDK 8300 1X/2X/3X super slow-motion cameras, a Karrera Video Production Center mixer, three K2 Dyno instant replay systems with ChannelFlex, and GeckoFlex modular signal processing with up/down conversion.

With the production objective of capturing the best of each race to bring all the emotion to the spectators, Pistas Argentinas concentrates its coverage on each vehicle and the drivers.

On the race track, cameras are positioned around the track with triax cables up to 1,800 meters long, aided by Grass Valley's triax repeater. Using Grass Valley triax transmission systems allows them to solve cable length problems more easily, especially considering the difficult environments of Argentine circuits.

"Using the LDX 8300 in 3X mode with our K2 Dyno Replay Systems gives a polished look to our coverage, allowing viewers to appreciate many subtle mechanical details, racing techniques, and the driver's emotions during the competition. In addition to our powerful Karrera switcher, with more power than we need, its intuitive operation is an advantage," said Pablo Kotodij, engineer and technical director of Pistas Argentinas-Ironbox.
