Joe Cozzolino Introduces New Cloud Options for Cisco Videoscape at CES 2014

Coinciding with CES 2014, Cisco has presented in Las Vegas the latest vision of the Internet of Everything (Internet of Everything) through various activities and events, all of them with the aim of demonstrating what happens when people, processes, data and objects are connected to the network. This was the main topic that focused the presentation at the event by John Chambers, president and CEO of Cisco, along with the update of the Videoscape TV platform that now includes new cloud video capabilities and its “as a service” offering.

This solution will facilitate new user viewing behaviors, such as second screen and 4K video, as well as greater customization to view and share any content on multiple devices. These improvements help video service providers and media companies improve the agility of implementing new services and reduce their operating expenses.

New applications

Videoscape's new cloud capabilities include new software tailored to the Videoscape cloud that enables Cisco customers to deploy new video-on-demand applications in record time, then scale them easily and automatically, saving months or even years of planning and deployment, resulting in reduced operating expenses.

Using the same software and APIs as Videoscape's previous solutions, its new cloud applications can be purchased “as a service” from Cisco under a consumption-based model. This approach allows companies to complement existing infrastructures and offer a new experience to consumers, without the need to create, code and integrate new capabilities.

Videoscape can also adapt to the needs of each client, so that their cloud infrastructures can evolve, according to their choice, without requiring costly replacements.

Finally, review the introduction of an open UX foundation (Videoscape Open UX Foundation), software that improves the functionality and performance of gateways, set-top boxes and connected devices running HTML5 applications. HTML5 is a key component of cloud-based video systems, and Open UX Base enhances HTML5 infrastructures, making it faster and easier for service providers and media companies to deploy engaging video services from the cloud.

Joe Cozzolino, senior vice president and general manager of Service Provider Video Infrastructure at Cisco, said: "Videoscape leads the industry by delivering a great video consumption experience. With Videoscape's new cloud capabilities, our customers now have two ways to deploy their capabilities and bring video services to market faster than ever. In addition, our Cisco Fusion strategy allows customers to mix and match deployment options that further grow their revenue while reducing their overall deployment expenses."
