Record hands-free with the new Canon Legria Mini
Designed for low-complex recording environments, the camera has different selectable scenes and an advanced audio capture system.
Canon has presented at CES 2014 an improvement to its “hands-free camera”, the Legria Mini. Among other improvements, the new Mini X incorporates a larger stereo microphone with audio volume control using a wheel on the side. Designed to reduce ambient noise, this equipment allows adjustments to be made in the directionality, frequency response and attenuation of the microphone. One of the advantages now is that it is possible to directly mix the volume of the external microphone with the internal one.
Audio is saved in two-channel MPEG-4AAC-LC format or, in AVCHD recording mode, in LPCM for 24 mbps AVCHD and two-channel Dolby Digital for 17 mbps AVCHD.
Designed for low-complex recording environments, the camera has different selectable scenes such as conferences, sports, nature... that adapt the different parameters automatically.
Its 2.7-inch touch screen offers great flexibility for shots from all angles without image distortion with a resolution of 230,000 pixels. The image sensor is a 1/2.3-inch, back-illuminated, high-sensitivity CMOS.
It incorporates a DIGIC DV 4 processor with face detection technology. The lens with an f2.8 aperture would be equivalent to a 15.4mm in 35mm photography, covering between 150 and 160 degrees for videos. Record videos in AVCHD up to 1080/50i or also in MP4 up to 1080/25p.
It has an HDMI video output, a USB 2.0 port with a mini-B type connector, a headphone output and an external microphone input. Its lithium-ion battery offers a range of up to two and a half hours.
