Quantel acquires Snell, creating a new giant in the industry
The combination of both companies will allow them to have a greater scale and the combination of powerful technologies for production, broadcast and post-production.
Quantel, a company specialized in high-level post-production environments, announced this Wednesday the acquisition of Snell, a world reference in solutions for the production of live television and the creation, management and distribution of content for television everywhere and on any device such as tablets, mobile phones and the web. The acquisition will combine the strength of two giants to launch an ambitious project that will offer clients a complete range of products to create, version and deliver high-quality content efficiently across multiple platforms.
Ray Cross, CEO of Quantel, highlighted that this operation "will bring together two great companies creating a new force of utmost importance in the global media and broadcast market. This will allow us to better serve Quantel and Snell customers around the world. Our product ranges are totally complementary so the excellent Snell and Quantel brands and product ranges will continue to be maintained. We will be able to combine the best of the class talent and technologies of Quantel and Snell to offer exciting new products and solutions on the market to help our clients transform their businesses. On the other hand, having more local offices around the world will allow us to build closer relationships with our clients and offer better support.”
Paul Martin, CEO of the Snell TV Everywhere division and Robert Rowe, CEO of the Snell Live TV division will join Quantel's board. Tim Banks, Chief Sales Officer and Peter Fredericks, Chief Financial Officer at Snell will also play a leadership role in the new combined organisation. "I am truly delighted that the Snell and Quantel businesses have come together to increase the scale and reach of both. Under Ray's leadership, the combined business will be able to write an exciting new chapter by looking firmly to the future. The new joint venture will have its operational center in the British town of Newbury, from where Quantel has been developing innovative solutions for decades. With offices in 16 locations around the world and combined revenues of more than $170 million, Quantel and Snell are now beginning to write together a new chapter in the history of this industry.
