The integrated video assistant solution developed by Ovide convinces the American market with its power, simplicity and possibility it offers on set.

Ovide Smart Assist at NAB 2014

Ovid has shown this week at the Bandpro stand at NAB 2014, its solution for video assistance, Ovid Smart Assist.

With a 22" touch monitor, this system developed by Ovide with the QTake HD software allows you to work with two HD cameras and up to 64 camera links. The system supports two HD cameras, but for multi-camera sequences it is possible to connect up to 8 systems making a total of 16 cameras. All will record at the same time and all will play back at the same time, all with a simple click. In addition, using external quadsplits and connecting up to 8 cameras in each Smart Assist we could monitor up to 64 cameras.

Designed for use on film sets, it does not matter if the user powers their Smart Assist with 10 or 30v, there will always be 12v in the outputs. This makes it an ideal device for connecting external accessories such as distributors, quad splits, high-capacity hard drives...

The 24v connector is the same Fischer connector as on ARRI cameras, so you are always sure to have the correct polarity.

Ovide Smart Assist has a hard drive for internal or external recording, being able to record in HD ProRes, and outputting if the user wishes to an iPad for playback and live streaming. Ovide's proposal features a Firewire 800 port and 2 USB 3.0 ports (faster, easier to use and its cables easier to find than eSATA) to connect external hard drives or any other device.

With QTake HD it is possible to do color correction, even using Tangent Devices panels, slave to a LiveGrade system, import CDLs and apply LUTs. Also see chroma key, composite, perspectives, blending, curtains... even if external videos or photos are imported into the project from a hard drive or pendrive.

The user will be able to edit the cut to show the director how the project is turning out and then export the EDL and take it to their favorite editing system as a starting point.

Additionally, you can use waveform monitor, vectorscope, false color and histogram to measure the camera signal. And all this in real time.

QTake HD is the most advanced video assistance software in the world, chosen in major blockbusters such as The Amazing Spiderman 2, El Gran Gatsby, Ender’s Game y The Lone Ranger, among many others.
