The popular Ovide video assistance system is renewed and presented at IBC with the possibility of recording, playing back and viewing effects with a 4K camera or with 4 HD cameras.

Ovide Smart Assist

Ovide Smart Assist, the “all-in-one” video assistance equipment from Ovid, has been renewed and is now capable of recording, playing back and viewing effects with a 4K camera or with 4 HD cameras, you just have to choose one of the two working modes. In 4-camera mode, Ovide's solution allows you to work at 2K or HD resolutions, with 4 inputs, 12 routed 2K/HD SDI outputs and 1 composite output. When shooting with a camera, the equipment allows you to work at 4K resolution, with 1 4K input, 3 routed 4K SDI inputs and 1 composite output.

The new Smart Assist has a new 22" (1920x1080px) screen that is much more precise. It has better image quality and is brighter. As with other options, you can choose the finish: matte to avoid reflections or a special finish for sunny environments, which allows you to see and read better.

On the other hand, with the new SMA connectors it is possible to choose the Wi-Fi antennas that best suit the shooting and location, but in addition, the Ovide Smart Assist 4 is equipped with a Bluetooth antenna for other wireless functions.

Smart Assist can stream video or playback to iPhones and iPads regardless of what Smart Assist or other connected devices do. You can also turn these devices into a “remote control” to operate the Smart Assist from a distance.

Connectivity

Ovide Smart Assist 4 is equipped with many more connectors and allows you to shoot with up to 4 HD (or 2K) cameras simultaneously, but for those one-off shots that need to be perfect the first time, there is the option to connect up to 128 cameras and control them all at once… with a single click! To do this you will have to connect 8 Ovide Smart Assist 4 with Quad Spits.

In terms of connectivity, the new version is equipped with 12 routed SDI outputs to choose 12 independent video signals including multi viewers. To facilitate the task of connecting each device, the equipment has small OLED screens that indicate which of the outputs is.

As far as power is concerned, Smart Assist can work with alternating current, ground batteries or camera batteries with a Hot Swap system. In addition, Ovide Smart Assist 4 is equipped with an internal UPS system that warns when all power sources run out and will remain on for 2 minutes to avoid losing the work done.

Ovide is presenting a pre-series version of Smart Assist 4 at stand G11.41.
