Imagine evolves Selenium
Imagine has presented improvements to its platform at NAB, as well as the launch of Selenium X100.
Imagine Communications announced the launch of Selenio X100, the latest enhancement to the company's flagship facility signal processing and mobile production solution. Selenio
The intelligent 1RU Selenio X100 dual-channel image converter and synchronizer provides varied processing capabilities for video, audio, data and metadata. From ingest and output processing and tape archiving, to production and post-production applications, the powerful and energy-efficient Selenio X100 processor easily integrates into the signal workflow of any broadcast environment, including mobile production trucks, small stations, production studios and broader networks.
One of Selenio Lyon Video purchased numerous units of Selenio X100 to equip its mobile production trucks with high definition/digital/analog input/output and small form-factor pluggable (SFP) transmitters.
MCP
At NAB 2014, Imagine has shown improvements to its widely used Selenium Media Convergence Platform (MCP). Combining baseband video, audio processing, compression and IP networking elements into a single space-saving platform, Selenio MCP provides a high-performance contribution solution for live events through the new, most advanced JPEG2000 compression capability over IP, and a highly efficient satellite distribution solution, adding the integrated dual-channel DVB-S/S2 demodulator.
Selenium MCP, a key element of Imagine Communications' Software-Defined Networking framework, is the platform of choice for media companies that need an all-in-one convergence solution to efficiently manage today's baseband and hybrid operations. By providing on-ramp and off-ramp for baseband over IP, the MCP acts as a bridge between these technologies, supporting the latest compression formats while taking advantage of the high-quality video made in baseband. This announcement follows the introduction of the MCP1 in 2013, which extended the capabilities of the award-winning MCP3 (3RU) into a compact, cost-efficient 1RU package.
The new multi-channel JPEG2000 compression capability is ideally suited for ultra-low latency broadcast contribution applications such as sports, live events and studio-to-studio production, providing signal transmission at high bit rate and visible lossless quality for superior editable video. Supporting real-time streaming of HD, SD, 3D and IP, the upgrade enables high-density multi-channel compression over IP, with a single module solution and 4 single-slot encoders, providing up to 56 JPEG2000 channels in a 3RU chassis. Selenium also provides extensive support for additional advanced compression, including H.264/MPEG4 and MPEG2 in the same form factor.
