This is one of the most significant updates and includes improvements to high-resolution editing features, new color correction tools for photographers, on-set media management, and much more.

DaVinci Resolve 11

DaVinci Resolve 11 beta version Blackmagic Design It is now available to the general public. This is one of the biggest updates yet, with over 100 new editing and grading features. The new version includes significant improvements in high-resolution editing, contextual cropping functions, correction tools similar to those used in digital photography, and the ability to copy files while filming, in addition to new collaborative work processes that allow multiple users to work on the same timeline simultaneously.

The new DaVinci Resolve 11 features more than 70 new editing features developed based on suggestions from a large number of professional editors. It includes two screens and professional editing tools ranging from using the JKL keys for dynamic adjustments to audio chaining and custom shortcuts for faster editing. Trimming functions are contextual, so DaVinci Resolve automatically recognizes the type of adjustment the user wants to make to the sequence based on the mouse position. This not only greatly facilitates editing, avoiding wasting valuable time when changing tools, but also allows you to edit sequences on several audio and video tracks simultaneously, either in the same direction or asymmetrically.

DaVinci Resolve 11 includes a new keyframe editor with differentiable curves built into the timeline that places markers directly below each sequence based on the context of the sequence. It also allows you to add OpenFX elements to the timeline and use them in transitions.

New collaborative tools in DaVinci Resolve 11 make it possible for multiple terminals to share a single timeline, so editor and colorists can work together as shots are finalized. As an example, one colorist may be compositing images or tracking a certain object while another adjusts the color, and the sequence updates instantly as the editor performs the editing. Therefore, users always have an updated version of the timeline and can work on the same project simultaneously. This makes it easier for creative teams to synchronize and allows them to speed up processes on complex projects such as the production of feature films and television shows.

One of the most important advantages of the new editing functions offered by DaVinci Resolve 11 is the compatibility with Apple Final Cut Pro X. This integration allows projects to be transferred from one program to another without major difficulties. For example, a Final Cut Pro The compatibility of both applications provides the possibility for independent filmmakers to work with large studios in the area of post-production.

Digital grading

Digital grading tools have also been improved in this version of DaVinci Resolve. The new update includes controls for RAW images and color adjustments designed for those photographers who have begun to venture into the field of cinematography. The new “Camera RAW” tab has functions to restore highlights and shadows, highlight midtone details, enhance color, and modify gain and contrast. Additionally, DaVinci Resolve 11 overcomes the limitations of photo retouching systems and provides complete control over RAW images, making it possible to take full advantage of the full dynamic range in real time.

Another advantage that the program offers is the possibility of backing up and saving the camera's digital files. The new cloning tool allows you to copy the content of different cameras, drives and memory cards to different destinations simultaneously. The copied files are verified to avoid data transfer failures, thus allowing exact digital copies of the originals to be obtained. This tool is included in the free version of the program and can be installed on laptops.

DaVinci Resolve 11 also has a unique automatic color balance function based on a specific color model that can be used on all types of recorded materials. This new tool performs primary grading by analyzing different shots with conventional color tables, even when they have been filmed in different lighting conditions and with different degrees of exposure and color temperatures.

On the other hand, the new version of the program optimizes image processing in OpenCL, obtaining higher rendering speeds on Apple's new MacPro systems. These systems have two graphics cards, thus providing a conventional solution that allows data to be processed quickly even in Ultra HD with a 32-bit floating point YRGB model.

“This update is extremely important and we are really happy with DaVinci Resolve 11,” said Grant Petty, CEO of Blackmagic Design. "The response we've gotten from editors working on feature films and television shows after adding new features to DaVinci Resolve has been fantastic. When developing this new version, we took all the suggestions received into account, and have transformed the application into a complete editing program. Of course, the update also includes new grading functions and tools for filming. This version of DaVinci Resolve is without a doubt the best yet and will be available to all our customers for free. From this In any case, there will be no need to spend any money to upgrade to the best editing program that exists today!”
