Intelsat turns half a century
Intelsat commemorates fifty years of history as a provider of telecommunications and video distribution infrastructure to companies, organizations and governments around the world.
The International Telecommunications Satellite Organization (Intelsat) is celebrating fifty years of history these days.
Coinciding with this anniversary, it has just launched a video library with around fifty interviews with the protagonists of the early days of this industry, as well as the business leaders responsible for current innovations.
The video gallery also includes stories from Intelsat customers and employees who witnessed firsthand the vital role of satellite communications.
David McGlade, president and CEO of Intelsat, acknowledges that "I can't think of a better way to honor 50 years of Intelsat and those space pioneers than to look to the future and the advancements occurring in space-based communications that will transform the way people, machines and businesses interconnect. The advent of high-performance satellite technology, such as Intelsat EpicNG, and the innovation occurring at all levels of our ecosystem will ensure that communities and businesses have the information and content they need to progress and prosper”:
Intelsat was established based on agreements signed by governments and operating entities on August 20, 1964. The sole purpose of Intelsat was to provide the necessary communications infrastructure that helps the socio-economic development of nations around the world. Since then, Intelsat has been playing a crucial role in the great progression of telecommunications in the last half century.
