TVE installs several DIVArchive and DIVAnet systems from Front Porch

These systems will streamline multi-site storage and provide immediate response to disaster recovery cases.

Front Porch Digital, a company specialized in cloud-based content storage management, today announced that Televisión Española has implemented DIVArchive CSM systems in a dozen of its facilities for news management, post-production, and historical archiving. Public television has also installed a DIVAnet multi-site content distribution system in each of its three main archiving locations. DIVAnet systems allow remote access so that the three main archives can serve as backup and disaster recovery centers for each other, completing a fundamental piece in the archive and restoration workflow at RTVE.

Carlos Hernández Esteban, manager of documentary collections at RTVE, acknowledges that "we have been using DIVArchive in different places in our network and we have continually added more systems because we have always had a very good experience, so when we decided to install a more efficient, more secure disaster recovery system, Front Porch Digital was our first choice. DIVAnet offers great advances in the security of our archives, since we can store the content redundantly in multiple locations and access it remotely, which protects us against local disasters or technical issues. And since we were working with Front Porch Digital and DIVArchive, the integration has been easy.”

RTVE uses DIVArchive in its main archive and production centers, two in Madrid and one in Barcelona, ​​​​with support for regional archives in nine other production centers throughout the country.

The three main production centers not only allow access to the short-term archive for news and post-production, but also facilitate access to long-term archives containing all historical content throughout the RTVE network.

DIVAnet installations in these three main centers create critical redundancy for the network by practically eliminating the risk of having content backups locally, without connection between files. RTVE is now able to store backup copies of all content in each of the three main locations that have DIVArchive and users at each center can access the other files remotely to restore content in the event of a disaster or technical problems.
