Front Porch reaffirms its commitment to JPEG2000
Front Porch Digital introduces new updates to its J2K Player and reaffirms its commitment to the JPEG2000 compression standard as an effective solution to guarantee video quality.
Front Porch Digital aims to reaffirm its commitment to the JPEG2000 compression standard with the introduction of new features for its J2K player. During NAB, both the JPEG2000 Alliance and Front Porch will carry out numerous demonstrations of the possibilities of this codec.
JPEG2000 is an open, license-free compression standard, whose advantages include consistent quality across generations, support for 4K and higher resolutions, and fully adjustable bitrate control. The JPEG2000 Alliance, of which Front Porch is an active member, was formed to support the development and adoption of this standard in the film and media industry.
Front Porch's J2K playback software is designed to work on PC platforms playing JPEG2000 content with MXF OP1A files.
Brian Campanotti, director of technology at Front Porch Digital, has recognized that “the adoption of this standard will mean important benefits for providers like us, for our clients and for the entire industry, including consumers, on average.”
