RTVE modernizes its facilities in Bilbao

It puts into operation the new TVE digitized facilities in Bilbao, prepared for the future migration to high definition.

RTVE has modernized its facilities in Bilbao and has reached a sales and subsequent lease agreement with the Chamber of Commerce of the Biscayan capital. In this way, the Bilbao Territorial Center puts its new digitized television teams and prepared for the future change to high definition, and optimizes its real estate assets.

The corporation continues with its policy of modernizing its capabilities and has launched the new digitalized television facilities in its center in Bilbao. With this project framed in the process of digitalization of the territorial centers developed by RTVE, it has been proceeded in the territorial center of the Basque Country to its implementation, taking advantage of the works for unification in the same RNE and TVE building. In this digitalization, both the installation of the new digital media for the production of programs and informative is considered as well as the provision of the digitized writing protected by the centralized writing project for territorial centers.

The installation is also prepared to facilitate future migration to high definition, and based on SDI digital video technology with embedded AES-EBU format. It contemplates the distribution of internal signals by RF and the provision of the necessary wiring to support the data and communications connectivity structures.

This concludes a first part of the adaptation of the spaces of the RTVE facilities in the territorial center of the Basque Country that will continue with the integration of the radio media by renewing a set of facilities that allow both the adaptation to current regulations and greater energy savings and greater functionality for the activities of the writing.

Likewise, RTVE has signed the sale of these premises that will become rented to the Bilbao Chamber of Commerce within a policy of optimization of real estate assets of the Corporation, and rationalization of their uses. As a consequence of this agreement reached with the Bilbao Chamber of Commerce, RTVE will lease for a period of 20 years the sixth, seventh and eighth plants, proceeding to the sale of the space available on the fifth plant.
