Professional Organic Technology EL Master Monitor Wins US Academy of Arts and Sciences Award

Sony BVM-3250

Four employees of Sony, who participated in the development of the organic technology EL Master Monitor, have received the Science and Technology award from the US Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS).

The Academy thus recognizes the work of Tsutsui Ichiro, Takeshi Masahiro, Tamura Mitsuyasu and Asano Makoto.

Introduced in May 2011, the organic EL monitor features a contrast ratio of 1:1,000,000, reducing image jitter, as well as offering excellent response rate and accurate color reproduction.

The patented and specifically designed processor enhances the performance of the organic EL panel to meet the specifications of a reference monitor, ensuring image uniformity (the homogeneity of color representation across the screen) and preventing "fading", ensuring long-term monitor reliability.

This reference monitor also benefits from the benefits of Sony's exclusive Full HD (1920 × 1080) Super Top Emission technology whereby light is emitted from the top surface of the organic EL panel to display a high luminance image.

In addition, this technology increases the fidelity of color reproduction with a microcavity structure and a color filter, thus achieving greater contrast.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences recognized in announcing the award that “these accurate, wide-gamut monitors enable creative imaging decisions to be made with confidence on set so that desired images can be accurately reproduced in post-production.”

One of Sony's goals is to develop technologies that will improve image display in the future and provide high-quality products.

The awards ceremony will be held in the United States, specifically in California, Beverly Hills, on February 7, 2015 (local time).
