France Télévisions is harnessing the power of Avid Everywhere in coverage of the highlights of the 2015 Tour de France. The post-production team relies on a powerful and highly collaborative workflow, integrated into the Avid MediaCentral platform capable of managing the enormous volume of material for each race and creating attractive packages with very tight deadlines.

The 2015 Tour de France began on July 4 in Utrecht (Netherlands) and will conclude on the 26th on the Champs-Élysées in Paris.

Gilles Parcq, technical director of France Télévisions, said: "The Tour de France is an important sporting event in our production calendar, and it is crucial that we can offer the best coverage. We needed a robust post-production solution that could be easily configured each day, and that would offer us to manage a significant amount of content to help our editors find and work with the right clips. The combination of creativity and reliability offered by the Avid workflow met all our needs."

The France Télévisions mobile unit, which travels with the Tour, has a post-production workflow based on Avid Interplay Production, Isis shared storage and Media Composer editing stations.

Third-party integration offered by Avid MediaCentral Connectivity Toolkit allows content to be ingested into video servers. EVS into a standalone mobile unit to directly feed two Avid Isis 5500 shared storage systems.

Interplay Production Suite includes extensive production and asset management tools that allow the production team to quickly view, sort, and select clips to create spectacular summaries. This task is greatly simplified by the continuity of metadata generated throughout the production chain.

Jeff Rosica, senior vice president of worldwide field operations at Avid, highlighted that "with the enormous volume of assets generated every day and the need to carry out reissues at lightning speed, The Tour de France is a unique event for both the riders, support teams, and the production teams that cover it. We are very proud of this collaboration between Avid and France Télévisions to help them share the daily excitement and intensity of this incredible race with their viewers."
