The call to submit works for the Hispasat 4K International Festival will remain open between July 14 and September 23.

Festival Internacional Hispasat 4KHispasat has launched the Hispasat 4K International Festival, one of the first competitions in the world dedicated entirely to short films recorded in 4K.

The event aims to promote the creation and exhibition of audiovisual pieces in Ultra High Definition.

Hispasat has promoted the development and implementation of UHD from the beginning in order to be able to make it available to film and television viewers as soon as possible. It was the first satellite operator to carry out Ultra High Definition transmission in Latin America through its Hispasat 1C satellite and, since September 2013, it has broadcast its Hispasat 4K channel free-to-air in Europe, made available to the industry to promote the use of this technology. Hispasat 4K has also been available for North and Central America since April 2014, and is planned to be broadcast in Latin America in the future.

Companies such as Samsung, Dolby, Canon and SGO, as well as RTVE, the Callao City Lights cinemas in Madrid and the production company Heavents have joined the initiative to make this unique event in Spain possible. Likewise, the festival has the collaboration of the most prestigious film schools in Spain and Latin America, whose students will be able to participate in the call.

The call for the reception of short films will remain open between July 14 and September 23, 2015. The Hispasat 4K International Festival is open to works of any nationality and genre, with a maximum duration of 20 minutes, recorded in 4K format.

The five winning works will be screened during the closing gala that will take place on November 12, 2015 at the Callao cinema in Madrid.
