‘Loreak’ will represent Spain in the race towards the Oscars
The film, first in Basque that will represent Spain in the Oscars, is imposed against ‘Magical Girl’ and ‘Happy 140’.
The Film Academy has chosen the film Loreak to represent Spain in the 88th edition of the Oscar Awards in the category of Best Non -English Speech.
The academics have been able to opted for the film directed by Jon Garaño and Jose Mari Goenaga in front of the other candidates: Happy 140, of grace querejeta and Magical Girl, by Carlos Vermut.
For the first time, the academy has opted for a film shot in Basque to present it to the Oscars. Irene School and Álvaro Cervantes actors have been responsible for making known at noon this Tuesday at the academy headquarters the vote result.
The tandem Jon Garaño-Jose Mari Goenaga directs and co-writes the script (next to Aitor Formi) of Flowers, his second film together after "80 Egunean."
This story, a drama about three women whose lives are altered by the mere presence of some bouquets of flowers, is protected by Nagore Aranburu, Itziar iTuño, Itziar Aizpuru, Josean Bengoetxea and Egoitz Lasa.
