The U-VMOS system helps measure and evaluate the complete experience on different networks, screens, and even in different usage scenarios.

Huawei U-VMOS

Huawei has released the new U-VMOS system for the evaluation of the user experience with respect to the quality of the videos in different networks and application scenarios, through the analysis made by the users. The results will guide operators and the industry to improve satisfaction and development of the services offered.

Wang Shengqing, president of marketing at Huawei, recognizes that "user experience is what drives the industry to perfect video services. The U-VMOS system helps measure and evaluate the complete experience on different networks, screens, and even in different scenarios, thus promoting the development of the industry, focusing on customer needs."

U-VMOS is capable of checking a range of resolutions from 360p to 8K and video playback on screens ranging from 4.5 inches to 100 inches. Thus, the system evaluates user interoperability in different usage scenarios and viewing experience, including the time for initial loading of the video, the time to advance the video and the response time, thus capturing the entire experience with one image.

The U-VMOS is the result of research into the limits of the human eye and how much resolution it is capable of absorbing. Taking into account the characteristics of human vision and the real reactions of viewers in different scenarios, the system generates a score.

Given that the user uses numerous devices to connect, Huawei managers now believe that a more complete rating system is necessary, capable of evaluating the quality of the video experience on different networks, screens, and even in different scenarios, with a unified and user-oriented standard.

The company's video research teams have conducted in-depth technical studies to identify the three most important factors affecting the video experience: quality, interactive experience and user experience. The company has defined three key parameters in U-vMOS to measure these factors.
