Indra expands the land segment of Hispasat

The company will provide four earth stations in Brazil and Spain for the monitoring and control of the new Hispasat 1F and Amazonas 5 satellites.

Indra has been awarded the contract to expand the ground segment of Hispasat for an amount of more than 5 million euros and an execution period that extends until January 2017.

The company will prepare the ground segment so that it can carry out the monitoring and control of the new Hispasat 1F and Amazonas 5 satellites. Among other tasks, the company will supply four ground stations. Two of them will be installed in the Hispasat control center in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) while another will be put into operation in the Maspalomas center (Canary Islands) and the fourth in Arganda del Rey (Madrid). Several existing stations, which were supplied in previous contracts, will also be updated.

With Amazonas 5, Hispasat will respond to the growing demand for satellite capacity, mainly for satellite television platforms, which is present in Latin America and Brazil. In addition, it has Ka band capacity to serve new internet connectivity services.

Hispasat 1F will serve as a replacement for Hispasat 1D and will provide additional capacity in Ku band for the Andean and Brazilian regions. Likewise, with the Hispasat 1F, Hispasat's transatlantic capabilities will be expanded in its Europe-America and America-Europe connectivities and Ka-band capacity with European coverage will be added so that it continues to increase its broadband services in the region.

Con este nuevo contrato valorado en cinco millones de euros, Indra refuerza su estrecha relación de colaboración, de más de 20 años, con Hispasat. En este tiempo, la multinacional ha implantado el sistema que controla los satélites Amazonas 1, 2, 3 y 4 y los satélites Hispasat 1A, 1B, 1C, 1D y 1E.
