The founders of AlloCiné, Canal+ and TF1 will launch Molotov TV in July
The new OTT television distribution platform created by French media veterans Jean-David Blanc, Pierre Lescure and Jean-Marc Denoual now has an official launch date: July 11.
Molotov, the new OTT television distribution platform created by French media veterans Jean-David Blanc, Pierre Lescure and Jean-Marc Denoual, has announced that the public launch of the new service will take place this summer, specifically on July 11.
Molotov will be available for free and easily accessed from any screen, including computers, smartphones, tablets and smart TVs. Users of the service, which offers both free and paid channels, will enjoy access to more than one hundred different television channels, among which almost all TV channels available in France are represented.
Jean-David Blanc commented that "after months of hard work, user testing and analysis, we are very pleased to be able to present a new television experience this summer. It is a free experience focused squarely on what viewers expect from 21st century television. Now more than ever, we are convinced that television offers an exceptional value proposition, as long as that translates into a suitable experience for the user."
Agreement with Canal+ Group
Molotov has also announced the signing of a distribution agreement with the Canal+ Group thanks to which D8, D17 and iTélé, as well as seven Ciné+ premium cinema channels (Ciné+Premier, Ciné+Frisson, Ciné+émotion, Ciné+Famiz, Ciné+Club, Ciné+Classic and Ciné+A la demande), will be available on the platform.
Pierre Lescure noted that "I am particularly pleased by the arrival of the Canal+ Group channels and reinforces our vision regarding the evolution of television distribution. We are dedicating all our efforts to launching a new and highly anticipated television distribution platform that meets current needs and, especially, the generation of the new millennium."
Although the new platform will initially take off in France, its managers already have their sights set on other markets such as Spain.
