The 3rd edition of the Platino Ibero-American Cinema Awards will take place on July 24 in Punta del Este (Uruguay).

On this occasion, around twenty films aspire to the final nominations of the different categories of the III edition of the Platino Ibero-American Cinema Awards.

The Executive Committee of the Awards has participated in this phase of the awards with the advice of prominent personalities from Ibero-American culture, industry and film institutions. The first preselection, announced at the last International Film Festival in Guadalajara, from which 158 productions came out, was attended by 826 films from Latin America, Spain and Portugal released in 2015.

Among the feature films that continue to compete for awards are titles that have won at the most prestigious festivals of the seventh art. All these productions continue on their way towards the III Platinum award ceremony, which will be held on July 24 in Punta del Este (Uruguay) and will be hosted by the Spanish actor, director, screenwriter and producer Santiago Segura and by the Uruguayan actress, singer and composer Natalia Oreiro.

The TNT television network will broadcast the gala live throughout Latin America. Martín Crespo, programming director of TNT, expressed the
commitment of the network to Ibero-American cinema and, especially, to these awards whose presentation was already broadcast by TNT in 2015. Crespo also announced that in this edition there will be special coverage given the prospects that exist after the successful second ceremony held last year in Marbella.

Promoted by the Audiovisual Producers' Rights Management Entity (EGEDA) with the Ibero-American Federation of Cinematographic and Audiovisual Producers (FIPCA), the PLATINO Ibero-American Cinema Awards have become in just two editions the most important global event for the promotion and support of the film industry in the Spanish-speaking countries of the American continent as well as Brazil, Portugal, Andorra and Spain.

The Platino are the first film awards that encompass the entire Ibero-American audiovisual industry made up of 23 countries united in a common project.
