Evertz Showcases Complete IP Solutions at NAB 2016
Both Evertz's Software Defined Video Networking (SDVN) technology and new 12G-SDI solutions enable uncompressed UHD delivery over IP.
Evertz This NAB 2016 highlights some new products and features that will help broadcasters offer UHD with HDR. For production, Evertz's DreamCatcher, the platform for UHD IP playback, comes with new features and capabilities that enable UHD (with HDR and HFR) to be used in the production environment. Both Evertz's Software Defined Video Networking (SDVN) technology and new 12G-SDI solutions enable uncompressed UHD delivery over IP (using ASPEN) and SDI.
The company presents new 12G-SDI matrices, 12G-SDI IP gateways and conversion and processing solutions at NAB.
For integrated UHD channel playout with HDR, Evertz is demonstrating OvertureRT Live-UHD, the channel playout with support for live input and advanced branding. This solution has already enabled its customers to quickly launch UHD (4K) channels with high dynamic range (HDR).
OVRT-Live-UHD supports all traditional master control audio and video transition elements, internal multi-channel playback server, advanced audio processing and advanced channel branding. For live programming, OVRT-Live-UHD supports quad-link 3G-SDI for switching sources on the engine. These sources can be mixed with internally stored content based on an automatic playlist.
OVRT-Live-UHD, with Mediator-X and OvertureRT Render-X, enables media companies to deliver UHD content with HDR to linear and non-linear platforms. Evertz provides the complete UHD experience.
Orchestration
At NAB 2016, Evertz reveals new features of Magnum SDVN, Evertz's software orchestration and control layer over IP solutions that has been deployed in media facilities around the world. Evertz Magnum control systems do not require an IT expert.
Magnum SDVN orchestration and control has been specifically developed to interface with all major components in a hybrid SDI/IP or all-IP installation, including Evertz 10/100GE high-capacity switching fabric, evEdge IP media gateways, and traditional Evertz SDI products. MAGNUM offers full end-to-end control of video, audio and data streams throughout the facility, from production to playback. This includes uncompressed (ASPEN, SMPTE 2022-6, Sony NMI, NewTek NDI, RFC 4175, and AES67) and compressed (MPEG-2, H.264, HEVC, and JPEG2000) video streams.
Using VUE-WEB, Magnum SDVN allows broadcast engineers to create customizable control panels to control and manage their hybrid SD/IP or all-IP installation.
Evertz will introduce EQX10, a 10RU 180x180 10GE hybrid UHD/3G/HD/SD-SDI router. The EQX10 is part of the EQX family of arrays that has been a mainstay of the industry for many years. The platform is a proven solution that is ideal for demanding and project-critical always-on environments.
The EQX10 platform unifies the traditional SDI router with Evertz's high-capacity IP switching fabric (such as EXE-VSR and 3080IPX) using IP Media Gateway modules in the array housing. EQX10 supports IP media gateways for SMPTE 2022-6, ASPEN, RFC 4175 and AES67 on input and output modules. This allows customers to seamlessly integrate into Evertz's 10GE Software Defined Video Networking (SDVN) infrastructure for all sources and destinations available to the EQX.
The EQX10's audio manipulation features are truly unique for a matrix of its size. Features include: newly integrated audio and video routing crosspoint (ADMX), adding audio to input or output modules (with access to the entire audio core), audio separation to input modules (with DSP), direct routable input and output MADI connections – without reducing the routers' total video input and output count. The audio core is comprised of embedded audio, AES, AA, MADI, Studer A-LINK and Calrec Hydra2, AES67 and SMPTE ST 302 interfaces, all in a seamlessly scalable, non-blocking architecture.
HDR
Evertz will highlight some new products and features that will help broadcasters deliver UHD with HDR. For production, Evertz DreamCatcher, the preferred platform for UHD IP playback, will demonstrate new features and capabilities that enable UHD (with HDR and HFR) in the production environment. Both Evertz's Software Defined Video Networking (SDVN) and new 12G-SDI products enable uncompressed UHD delivery over IP (using ASPEN) and SDI. Evertz will introduce new 12G-SDI routers, 12G-SDI IP gateways, and conversion and processing products. For integrated UHD channel playback with HDR, Evertz will demonstrate OvertureRT Live-UHD (OVRT-LIVE-UHD). OVRT-Live-UHD is the complete channel player with support for live input and advanced channel branding that is currently being used for new UHD channels.
Finally, Evertz is demonstrating a live cloud playout with Amazon in Las Vegas.
