The integration of VSN's media solution with online thesauri will allow obtaining additional and complementary information from different sources on the Internet and providing more data to the cataloger or journalist.

VSNExplorer

VSN continues to focus on innovation and new software developments to improve media management and make the daily operations of its clients much simpler.

On this occasion, it presents a first informative preview of what will soon become one of its latest star developments: the integration of VSNExplorer with online thesauri that will allow obtaining additional and complementary information from different sources on the Internet and providing more data to the cataloguer or journalist, as well as a totally new browsing experience and knowledge of the topics.

The VSN engineering team, which continues to work hard and is committed to promoting automation and efficiency in Media management, is finalizing the latest development for its media management solution, VSNExplorer, and its PAM, MAM, BPM and BI modules. Specifically, it will consist of the complete integration of online thesauri with its Media Management tools, which will allow users to provide precise information to their content with just one click.

The new integration with online thesauri, which is currently in its final phase of development, will allow additional information (maps, images, locations, history, biography, etc.) that has been extracted from the Internet to be associated in a fully automatic manner with any term that is published thanks to Linked Data.

Linked Data is the Semantic Web's way of linking together the different data that is distributed on the Web through the use of metadata, in such a way that people and machines can explore all this associated data on the web and obtain information related and complementary to the initial data they had. In short, these Linked Data make it possible to obtain additional information from already verified databases thanks to the use of metadata or “universal identifiers”, which are capable of recognizing a term and automatically linking information related to it.

Manuel EscribanoLarge interconnected database

In practice, the integration of VSNExplorer with online Thesauruses will allow users to have access to a kind of large interconnected database distributed on the Web, which are linked and interconnected with each other so that the user can find all kinds of information around a specific topic by simple association. For example, the simple name of an international organization could be associated with additional information accessible with just a click about its foundation, size, international competences or even location information. In this way, media management will advance one step further and will complement with additional data and in a fully automatic manner the information offered by the media, for the use and enjoyment of its users or viewers.

At IBC 2016, VSN will already show a preview of the possibilities offered by the use of linked data in its media solution.
