Roland acquires a majority stake in V-Moda
The Japanese company will control 70% of the renowned manufacturer of headphones and high-fidelity audio devices.
Roland has acquired 70% of the shares of V-Moda, the renowned manufacturer of headphones and hi-fi audio devices. The strategic investment provides Roland and V-Moda with the resources to together realize the next revolution in music products, accelerate product development and reach new heights in acoustic innovation.
Jun-ichi Miki, CEO of Roland, was delighted with the arrival of V-Moda to the Roland family of brands. "V-Moda has revolutionized headphones and taken customization to another level. Roland greatly values Milan's design, V-Moda's materials research and its experience as a professional DJ, along with the loyalty of its customers. Visionary founder Val Kolton has worked for the past twelve years creating the V-Moda philosophy, meticulously designing and testing products globally and inventing groundbreaking products in the competitive headphone market. Kolton will maintain his position as CEO of V-Moda. In addition, he will contribute his product design knowledge as a consultant to Roland's electronic music, DJ and dance division.

Under the terms of the transaction, Roland has acquired 70% of V-Moda, thus obtaining the majority stake in the company, while Val Kolton, CEO and founder of V-Moda, maintains the remaining 30%. The financial details of the operation have not been disclosed.
