Canon announces its new 4K Premium UJ27x6.5B IESD lens

It is intended for broadcast professionals who need extraordinarily high resolution and contrast for 4K high dynamic range (HDR) workflows.

Canon is presenting at IBC 2016 the new 2/3″ UJ27x6.5B IESD lens, aimed at broadcast professionals who need extraordinarily high resolution and contrast for 4K high dynamic range (HDR) workflows. This lens, which offers resolution power that goes beyond 4K and a 27x optical zoom, completes the current family of 4K HDR zoom lenses for news (ENG), studio and field (“field box”) lenses from the Japanese manufacturer.

Canon assures that the UJ27x6.5B IESD maintains high contrast and resolution from the center of the image to the edges and is consistent throughout the wavelength range of the B (blue), G (green) and R (red) channels, as well as in the wide frequency bands, from HDTV to 4K, and even beyond.

The use of fluorite and UD glass lenses in this lens, combined with Canon's coating and anti-reflective technologies, provides greater control over ghosting and ghosting, ideal for outdoor sports recording.

Great flexibility

Professionals who shoot content for broadcast, whether they do so in closed studios or large outdoor spaces, want a lens that offers them maximum flexibility. Therefore, the UJ27x6.5B IESD has a 27x optical zoom, perfect for sports recording in which a mix of close-ups of the audience is combined with wide panoramic shots of the action. This lens also has the ability to quickly change focus, without losing angles of view and, thanks to Canon's advanced technologies for the internal focusing system, effective focal shifts (focus breathing) are kept to an absolute minimum. The lens has an impressive focal length of 6.5-180mm, and the built-in 2x multiplier doubles the focal length, maintaining exceptional resolution beyond 4K.

Two new EOS Cine models

Canon has previewed two new models of its EOS Cine system at IBC, the EOS C700 (EF/PL) and the EOS C700 GS PL. Both are ready for the 4K generation, allowing large production companies and broadcast professionals to record easily and intuitively, with a wide dynamic range and excellent quality.

It has also added two professional monitors to its range: the DP-V2420 is a 24-inch, high-luminance reference monitor, and the DP-V1710, a 17-inch professional monitor.
