The Aqualon cinema complex in Huelva has just installed the new SRX-R515P 4K projectors from Sony in six of its nine rooms.

Following the goal of achieving greater technological perfection in their movie theaters, this year Aqualon cinemas have trusted Sony to renew their projection equipment, integrating 4K technology. “We want to offer our viewers ideal image and sound conditions, typical of a top-class cinema like Aqualon,” explains José Antonio Llorente, general director of Cines Aqualon.

For his part, Enrico Ferrari, regional sales director of Sony Digital Cinema for Southern and Central-Eastern Europe, emphasizes that "4K offers four times more detail than HD and more and more films are shot, distributed and projected with this type of resolution, which implies that owners integrate it to offer viewers the best possible cinematographic experience. And the SRX-R515 projectors are a great solution to offer quality and reference 4K images."

Cines AqualonSony's SRX-R515 range of projectors offers high-quality 4K digital cinema projection, providing a brighter and sharper image, and has a low operating cost and high storage capacity. In addition, all R500 series projectors integrate the multi-lamp HPM (High Pressure Mercury) range, whose design, by securing each lamp within its own protective cartridge, improves the safety of the equipment with respect to Xenon sources.

Cinematography Pereira has been the company in charge of carrying out the integration and providing the Aqualon Cinemas with annual technical support and the installation of the following Sony equipment: six 4K SRX-R515P projectors with the 2D and 3D interchangeable lens system, a TMS-Standard system, which streamlines the management and insertion of playlist content, Digital Cinema 3D systems, which offer fluid and attractive images with a continuous projection of separate images for the left and right eyes, as well as six additional lamp kits.

The projector installation agreement is the result of Sony Digital Cinema 4K Managed Services, a series of financing solutions to help Cinema owners in the acquisition of 4K projectors and their long-term maintenance. Sony Managed Services allow exhibitors to replace their 2K equipment with powerful 4K equipment. Thus, with a monthly fee, the agreement significantly reduces the initial investment while improving cash flow.

Thanks to the flexibility of the Managed Services contract, Sony will also be in charge of the two 2K DLP projectors that Cines Aqualon currently maintains, in terms of assistance and maintenance. “Sony Managed Services agreements cover spare parts warranty, installation, project management, site analysis before installation, maintenance and remote technical support,” adds Ferrari.

These include a low-cost light source system that allows for quick and safe lamp replacement, a washable air filter, a single control panel with 15-inch user interface, and remote control compatibility with iPad and Android tablets.

Delivering true 4K quality from the lens to the integrated Media Block, the projection system features an improved SXRD optical engine, higher contrast ratio, 15,000 lumens brightness, Sony Ergonomic 3D and high frame rate capability (up to 60 frames per second). It also supports high-speed content ingestion and transfer and offers high storage capacity.
