4K and UHDTV: advances in digital television

The frenetic evolution that television has experienced in the last decade, going from the digital video signal in standard definition to high definition, continuing with 3D television and leading to 4K, means that basic fundamental knowledge is often lost.

in the book 4K and Ultra High Definition, Francisco José Espinosa Pérez “Tilano” explains the most important aspects that need to be known to understand the operation of a 4K or UHDTV video signal, from the main characteristics of these formats or the transport structures in the data flows to the factors that determine the quality of the 4K and UHDTV signal such as HFR, WCG and special attention to HDR. In addition, it is analyzed how auxiliary data is mapped within the different data flows and how they are identified within it.

Finally, it also looks at how different data streams are transported within 6G and 12G links, as well as how audio channels are assigned.
