FS-900: A fiber optic fiber solution for the JVC GY-HM890 study camera

Developed in collaboration with Multidyne, the FS-900 fiber system is composed of a camera control unit and three rear chamber.

JVC has announced the availability of a fully equipped fiber optic solution for the GY-HM890 study chamber, in collaboration with Multidyne, the FS-900 system.

Multidyne and JVC reached an agreement to develop an integrated FO control solution for three GY-HM890 cameras in study configuration, whose first version could be seen in the 2016 NAB. Now, both companies have advanced in the project incorporating some of the ideas provided there and JVC now announces its availability for the first quarter of next year.

The FS-900 system is composed of a 3-EN-1 camera control unit and the three rear camera adapters; All specifically developed for JVC. The CCU unit is not only compatible with camera signals and 3G-SDI 1080p/60, but also use the streaming capabilities integrated in the camera itself to make the most of the IP functionality that characterize the PROHD cameras of JVC.

Control unit

The control unit supports up to 3 cameras, and redundant power supplies that provide the necessary food for all of them, for teleprompters and even support monitors. Its 3-EN-1 configuration is a more profitable solution than other systems that require independent controls for each camera. In addition, with its Ethernet Gigabit functionality and its little weight, the FS-900 unit-which occupies only 2 RU- allows the control and complete configuration of the system by IP.

The camera adapter is a module that is directly attached to the back of the GY-HM890 camera through its internal 68 pins interface, without the need for external cables, transporting multiple 3G-SDI bidirectional signals, as well as the control protocols, audio signals, synchronization, and intercom between the camera and the base station. Its mechanical design and connectivity allows you to use both the JVC VF-HP790 study monitor or other SDI input monitors. HDMI/SDI outings also allow work with high quality Teleprompters HD.

The FS-900 allows the connection of 3 OCP camera remote control panels, such as JVC RM-LP25 and will be available in two versions with neutrik or SMPTE connectors depending on customer needs.

The high quality 1080p signal produced by this system is designed for sets, events, webcasting, virtual studies, as well as for image magnification applications (I-MAG). The GY-HM890 camera solution and the FS-900 system is easily integrated into any television study, mobile unit or portable IP production study.
