The LTE-Broadcast Alliance and the Innovation Observatory have made public a White Paper in which they analyze the current and future situation of the LTE-BROADAST (EMBMS). With this document, these institutions intend to lay the basis for devices manufacturers under EMBMs to share a common technological basis.

In his opinion so that the LTE-B is a success, the operators, team manufacturers and other actors must work in the same direction.

According to this report, the LTE Broadcast is alive having made important progress with completed and running tests, with commercial services launched and new services near marketing.

"The potential market for LTE-Broadcast is huge. By using a single data channel to distribute popular content, capacity will be released in the networks of the operators so that they can offer the best service to their customers," said Mike Wright, Telstra Group network director in Australia.

The work includes the main conclusions of the first essays and deployments worldwide and includes examples such as Verizon Indycar application, which is commercially available in the US since April 2016. This application offers live streaming so that users can see what drivers are seeing.

EMBM network schemeA 14,000 million market

LTE-BROADCAST or MBMS, was conceived as a set of network technologies and devices that allow simultaneous dissemination of content to multiple devices, thus increasing the efficiency with which the video and other content can be delivered to multiple users and make a better use of network resources. The LTE Broadcast Alliance formed in April 2016 with Verizon, Telstra, KT and EE. In the last year, new companies such as Ericsson, Expway, HKT and CSL Mobile, Huawei, Netgear, Nokia, Smartfren, Tim, and Turkcell have joined in the last year.

It is estimated that the LTE-BROADAST market could reach 14,000 million dollars in 2020, with a customer base of 2,000 million users. In addition to generating a source of income for service suppliers, technology also presents opportunities for content suppliers, and network equipment, Middleware and Chipsets.
