Sony simplifies the use of PTZ cameras with the new RM-IP500 remote
It is designed to work with the new BRC-H800, BRC-H900, BRC-X1000 and SRG-360SHE PTZ cameras, as well as the new MCX-500 all-in-one HD mixer.
In order to facilitate the use of PTZ cameras with more intuitive and simple control, Sony will launch the new RM-OP500 remote at the end of spring. This solution is designed to work with the new BRC-H800, BRC-H900, BRC-X1000 and SRG-360SHE PTZ cameras, as well as the new MCX-500 all-in-one HD mixer, which supports SD card recording and IP streaming, to create an easy-to-use event production system.
Norbert Paquet, Head of Strategic Marketing at Sony Professional Europe, highlights that "The RM-IP500's easy setup, portable size and powerful features allow PTZ camera users to create an efficient and cost-effective live production system. With flexible zoom patterns, speed control functions, preset recall and firmware updates offering future support and new capabilities, this new remote control will boost efficiency considerably. A single person can professionally control every angle through of different PTZ cameras without stress, which greatly improves the efficiency of our customers' operations.”
Greater flexibility
The flexible controller allows the PTZ joystick to be operated with one hand, and can be customized to user preferences. Selectable zoom control gives users the option of stick (left) or joystick (right) operation. The controller allows easy adjustment of PTZ speed, and shortcut buttons are available for frequently used functions. It also allows you to recall PTZ functions, such as PTZ memory sequence*1, and configure them with the push of a button.
The RM-IP500 simplifies IP assignment for up to a hundred IP cameras using automatic IP adjustment, enabling quick setup and efficient operation. In addition, the user can program preset camera angles so that they are precise and easy to operate by one person. Featuring a new compact body, the controller measures 306 x 159.3 x 224.1 mm (12 1/8 x 6 3/8 x 8 7/8 inches) (without protrusions) and can be mounted or integrated into any console.
The RM-IP500 supports a variety of control formats, including RS-422 and VISCA over IP as well as: VISCA RS-422: RJ-45; LAN: RJ-45, 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX auto-sensing (in these two cases from summer) and GPI I/O (Tally input/contact output): D-Sub 15 pin.
