DDB Spain creates the first campaign that uses radio spots to distribute a video game
Under the motto 'History Worth Playing', DDB Barcelona devises a campaign for the Berlin Video Game Museum where all the communication pieces are actually video games.
The DDB agency from Barcelona has dusted off the old Spectrum to launch an interesting campaign for the Computer Spiele Museum in Berlin. Under the motto History Worth Playing, among the actions of the DDb campaign, it offers the possibility of downloading a video game through radio spots. In this way, the main piece of the campaign becomes a tribute to the 35 years since the creation of the historic ZX Spectrum microcomputer.
To obtain Radio Game, users must pay attention to the spots broadcast on the different European radio stations and record with a cassette the characteristic sound of the spot that hides the video game data. Later they can be run on their old Spectrum or from the official website which simulates the operation of the microcomputer capable of converting the audio frequency recorded in current smartphones into a video game. On the website you can download Museum Guide, a second game that is an interactive museum guide that offers the possibility of winning exclusive experiences in the museum.
In addition to the spots and the website, DDB has created graphics and posters, hanging on the streets of Berlin, which are actually columns of code to download the game. And in the museum itself, visitors will also be able to live the experience in situ in an installation that will allow them to tune into a radio frequency, record the sound it emits and play games.
