The New Glenn launcher will be compatible with virtually all Eutelsat satellites, offering the flexibility to assign a mission 12 months before launch.

Eutelsat has announced at the Satellite 2017 conference that is being held these days in Washington D.C. the closing of an agreement with Blue Origin for a launch aboard the New Glenn rocket that will begin flying in 2020.

Rodolphe Belmer, CEO of Eutelsat, highlights that "Blue Origin has been open with Eutelsat about their strategy and convinced us that they have the right mindset to compete in the launch services industry. Their solid approach to engineering and their policy of developing technologies that will form the basis of a broad generation of launchers correspond to what we expect from our industrial partners. By including New Glenn in our manifesto, we continue our consolidated strategy of innovation that reduces the cost of access to space and increases the performance. This can only be good news for the profitability and sustainability of our industry.”

Jeff Bezos, founder of Blue Origin, believes that "Eutelsat is one of the most experienced and innovative satellite operators in the world and we are honored that they have chosen Blue Origin and our New Glenn orbital launch vehicle. Eutelsat has launched satellites on many new vehicles and shares our methodical approach to engineering as well as our passion for reducing the cost of access to space. Welcome to our Eutelsat launch manifesto! We are delighted to soon be flying together."
