WeLab presents the new RED Epic-W 8K in Spain
The new camera stands out for its 35.4 megapixel Helium 8K S35 sensor, recording in REDCode RAW, 4K Apple ProRes or Avid DNxHR/HD simultaneously and the possibility of obtaining images at speeds of up to 300 frames per second (in 2K).
This Thursday it took place at the facilities of the rental and audiovisual services company WeLab in Madrid the presentation of the new camera RED Epic-W 8K.
The new Epic offers a dynamic range of 16.5 stops and a signal-to-noise ratio of 80 dB and is presented with a Nikon and Leica PL-EF optic.
As has been made clear in this presentation, the RED Epic-W 8K makes the difference due to the use of wireless technology that avoids annoying wiring. Using a WiFi module it is possible to connect it to an iPad or iPhone with “Fool Control” options over the camera. On the other hand, RED's powerful non-linear editing application, REDCINE-X-PRO, allows you to cut dailies or make color corrections directly on the film set.
From a usability point of view, RED has announced beta version 7.0 of the software (currently at version 6.4) that will simplify many of the operations with the camera. In addition, the DSMC2 core is the smallest manufactured by RED and is compatible with a wide range of accessories from RED and other brands, thus achieving a great capacity for customization.
