Blackmagic Ursa Mini Pro under control from a simple iPad via Bluetooth
The new Blackmagic Camera Control application, exclusive for iPad, is now available in the Apple store and will offer users the necessary tools to develop personalized control solutions using Bluetooth technology.
Starting today, the Camera 4.4 update is now available for the Ursa Mini Pro model. Blackmagic Design, as well as the launch of the new free Blackmagic Camera Control application, exclusive for iPad. This allows these cameras to be controlled remotely using Bluetooth technology and is based on the open protocol that the company demonstrated during this year's NAB show.
Version 4.4 can be downloaded for free from the Blackmagic Design website. It should be noted that, once installed, users have the possibility of obtaining the iPad application in the Apple application store.
All URSA Mini Pro models include Bluetooth connectivity, which until now had not been enabled. Thanks to this technology, users will be able to control the unit from a maximum distance of nine meters. Once the device is paired to the iPad, you can turn it on or off, change settings, change and add metadata using digital clapperboard, or start recording remotely. The application is ideal for those people who need to operate cameras in hard-to-reach places, such as cranes, drones or in waterproof housings.
On the other hand, with the aim of providing greater flexibility, Blackmagic Design has developed a new open protocol. Additionally, within the next few months, the company will make a programming interface and sample code available to developers to allow users to create their own solutions.
In addition to the app, Blackmagic Design announced a new Camera 4.4 update, which enables Bluetooth and offers more options for the default timecode on the URSA Mini Pro model. This allows you to use Canon 18-80mm T4.4 servo lenses to control recording, aperture and focus. It also provides optimized compatibility with EF, PL and B4 lenses, as well as improvements to the digital clapperboard and on-screen guides for the zebra function on URSA Mini 4K units.
