Jornal Nacional (Globo TV)Nearly two hundred professionals will work in the new news editorial office of the Brazilian broadcaster and it will serve Globo, G1 and GloboNews. Spread over an area of 1,370m², the set is located in the center integrated into the space with an interesting use of transparent screens.

This week the Brazilian Globo TV has launched its new news editorial. Destined to provide service to Globo, G1 and GloboNews, nearly two hundred professionals will work there, occupying an area of 1,370 square meters, 18 editing islands, three for post-production, two voiceover booths and several meeting rooms. The newsroom, which was born as a hybrid between a traditional concept and the Internet, has a large video wall from which journalists can follow the latest news from agencies, channels and stations around the world, as well as social networks.

Jornal Nacional (Globo TV)In the center of the newsroom, Globo has built the set of the National Newspaper. Among other novelties, this circular set separated from the rest of the newsroom by a curved glass, has two nine-axis robotics suspended above the ceiling capable of following the movements of the presenters with great smoothness and with an originality in their movement hitherto unknown in news programs. The set also has a robotic camera on curved rails as well as another similar system suspended from the ceiling.

As part of the circular stage, in addition to special LED lighting, a 15-meter curved glass has been installed behind the presenters' table capable of varying from matte to transparent while images are projected over the entire surface. On the newsroom wall, a spectacular 16x3 meter LED video wall serves as a backdrop.

In this way, Jornal Nacional's graphic artists can create animations and graphics on both surfaces that, together with the orchestrated movement of the robotics, give an interesting sensation of three-dimensional augmented reality.

Jornal Nacional (Globo TV)The new building also has a green roof that will help with thermal insulation and reduce energy consumption.

The executive editor and presenter Renata Vasconcellos emphasizes that "it is an impressive study. The visual identity is accompanied by a reason for being, associating beauty and functionality. The technology and the elements of the stage work depending on the news. It is a way of bringing it to the public in a clearer and faster way and, why not, more attractive too."

For his part, the editor-in-chief and presenter of one of the main editions of Jornal Nacional admits that "I loved it when I entered the scene for the first time. It is exciting to see that what started from a graphic project became a physical work, very beautiful and impressive."
