Ninja Inferno

atoms has released a free update to its Shogun Inferno and Ninja Inferno 4K monitors/recorders. The new firmware version 8.4 brings new features such as smoother HDR capture and delivery in the standard dynamic range (SDR). They will also offer 2K 240 fps Raw-to-ProRes and 4K 12-bit raw CDNG recording for Panasonic Varicam LT, when combined with the Shogun Inferno.

This is in addition to the already existing RAW support for several cinema cameras from Sony y Canon, as well as the option to improve support for many more cameras.

The HDMI output will also transmit the correct information in HDR, whilst being able to convert normal recording camera inputs to display in HDR using PQ or GAN, with a selection of output color gamut should you wish to connect an auxiliary monitor that supports HDR.

Jeromy Young, CEO of Atomos, highlights that "with our latest improvements, the process of monitoring, viewing, recording and delivering HDR today is simple and straightforward for the first time. I am sure that users will be amazed by the results, especially those using standard televisions with SDR GAN."
