RTVE and the Academy of Engineering create an Observatory on digital transformation of the media

The Observatory will have among its objectives the carrying out of study activities and exchange of knowledge between the agents involved and dissemination of the experiences of the digital transformation of the national and international audiovisual sector.

The corporate general director of RTVE, Enrique Alejo, and the president of the Royal Academy of Engineering (RANGE), Elías Fereres, have signed an agreement with which they renew their collaboration in innovation, through an agreement that creates the Observatory on the digital transformation of the Media sector. The agreement was signed during the day Challenges and opportunities of the use of big data in the audiovisual sector. Analysis of audience sentiment', the first event held last Thursday, November 23 and framed in this new Observatory.

Professionals from RTVE, the Royal Academy of Engineering, the University and other companies in the sector have debated at the Carlos III University on the new challenges of audience measurement, monitoring and analysis of social networks and digital media to make decisions, or Big Data and Cloud services.

The Observatory will have among its objectives the carrying out of study activities and exchange of knowledge between the agents involved and dissemination of the experiences of the digital transformation of the national and international audiovisual sector.

Las actividades se realizarán bajo la cobertura institucional y técnica de la Real Academia de Ingeniería y de RTVE. Entre las principales líneas de actividad destacan: las nuevas tecnologías de análisis automático de información en redes sociales y de gestión de grandes volúmenes de información, aplicadas al análisis de sentimientos de la audiencia; las técnicas avanzadas de análisis de información textual, reconocimiento de imágenes y procesamiento del lenguaje natural; y las nuevas formas de conocimiento de la audiencia y las herramientas de medición.

Los representantes de RTVE en la comisión paritaria del Observatorio serán Pere Vila, director de Estrategia Tecnológica e Innovación Digital, y Esteba Mayoral, director de Gestión del Centro de Innovación de RTVE. Por parte de la Real Academia serán el académico Miguel Ángel Lagunas y su director gerente Javier Pérez de Vargas.
