Digital Agenda will create a working group to address the gender gap in the technology sector

The Secretary of State for Digital Agenda, José María Lassalle, meets with the main women's associations in the field of ICT.

The Secretary of State for the Information Society and the Digital Agenda, José María Lassalle, has announced the creation of a working group to address the gender gap in the technological field after meeting with the main women's associations in the sector.

The meeting held at the Secretary of State for the Information Society and the Digital Agenda was attended by Cristina Aranda and Sara Alvarellos from Women Tech; Marina Serrano and Lucía Manzano from Girls in Tech Spain; Sara Gomez Women and Engineering; Rocío I took FemsDevs; Milagros Sainz from the Gender and ICT Research Group of the Open University of Catalonia; Gisela Vaquero Women In Games and Laila El Qadi on behalf of Inspiring Girls.

The desk, which will include representatives of institutions and civil society, will aim to propose solutions to issues such as the decline in the enrollment of women in secondary and university technological studies, the low presence of women in technological jobs, sexist attitudes and gender harassment in the consumption of digital content and the sociocultural influence of gender roles and patterns in the new technological environment.

Additionally, the department will prepare a White Paper sobre la situación de las mujeres en el ámbito tecnológico y reforzará las encuestas que realiza el Observatorio Nacional de las Telecomunicaciones y la Sociedad de la Información (ONTSI) sobre la situación de las mujeres en el sector TIC.
