The Contraluz room is born that will offer grading services and advice on color management and workflows

With colorist Luis Ochoa at the helm, the Contraluz room is born, a new audiovisual boutique in the center of Madrid specialized in color from pre-production to final mastering in both DCI digital cinema and 4K HDR television.

From the hand of the colorist Luis Ochoa, driver 709 Media Room, a company specialized in high-level color and digital cinema training, was born in the Madrid neighborhood of Los Jerónimos la sala Backlighting.

Contraluz will provide professional services in the sector such as calibrations or advice on color management and workflow. Luis Ochoa has commented that "thanks to my work as a freelancer I have been lucky enough to visit post-production and color rooms throughout the world, and realize what is important from an artistic and technical point of view when facing one of the most important steps of the audiovisual process: color. That learning is today put into practice in a new step of our project."

Its facilities will be dedicated exclusively to the art and science of audiovisual color and among its equipment it has a grade 1 monitor, projection for digital cinema on a 4-meter screen, 4K, HDR with PQ (2084) and HLG viewing systems, calibration by Lightspace CMS, ACES color management and all the acronyms that are necessary to carry out the technically and artistically perfect color process of any production, from before filming to the delivery of final materials.

It is worth highlighting the work of the design of the room by the artist Fan Yang.

In Contraluz they will use different color systems and workflows depending on the times and budgets of feature films, weekly series, daily series, television programs, documentaries...

The room has several professionals, among which its colorists stand out. Luis Ochoa and Elena Humanes. Ochoa has worked as an international colorist for feature films, television series and advertising. His professional experience as a cinematographer and film editor has provided him with a global vision of the audiovisual creation process. He has also specialized in 4K HDR workflow design.

For his part, Humanes is a professional colorist in the audiovisual and television sector, working editing and grading renowned programs and collaborating as an assistant on films.
