Axon and Arista Demonstrate IP Infrastructure for Live Sports Production

Visitors to NAB 2018 have been able to see on a small scale the advantages of IP production in sports.

Axon y Arista Networks have demonstrated at NAB 2018 the possibilities of live sports production over an IP infrastructure. At the Arista stand, a traditional SDI router has been replaced by an IP infrastructure along with Axon's Synapse IP control solutions and Synview's IP multi-display, all managed by the Cerebrum control platform.

Visitors to NAB have been able to see on a small scale the advantages of IP production in sports. For this experience, several Arista 7050SX-64 switches have been deployed in a spine-spine configuration, combined with Axon Synapse IP bridges (NIO440) to convert to and from SDI, and controlled through Axon's Cerebrum control and monitoring system. To feed IP signals directly to Axon's Synview multi-display, Synapse MNU100 modules were equipped with Synapse NIO440 converting SDI signals to IP for display on the multi-view wall.

Demonstrating the agility and flexibility that IP offers, by combining Axon solutions with cloud networking platforms powered by Arista software, it has become clear that transmission infrastructure can replace 6x72x72 (1080i – S2022-6) routers. Flexibility, control and knowledge of the flow path, while reducing the overall equipment footprint, enabling new business models.
