Seville will host the next edition of the Goya Awards
The Spanish Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences will organize the 2019 edition in the capital of Seville, which will take place on February 2. These awards have historically been awarded in Madrid except for the 2000 edition, which traveled to Barcelona.
After hosting the Forqué Awards, promoted by EGEDA, and the European Film Awards next December, Seville will once again host one of the great cinema events.
The Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences of Spain will organize the 33rd edition of the Goya Awards in the capital of Seville on February 2, 2019. These awards have historically been awarded in Madrid except for the 2000 edition, which traveled to Barcelona.
The president of the Film Academy, Mariano Barroso together with the first vice president Rafael Portela, they revealed this Tuesday in Seville the details of a ceremony that will take place at the Palace of Exhibitions and Congresses of Seville (Fibes). The manager of the venue, Jesús Rojas, highlighted that the ramp of the Palace of Exhibitions and Congresses “will be a spectacular red carpet”.
Barroso has highlighted that Seville is the third city in number of academics and has reviewed the thriving film industry that is developing in the Andalusian capital. On the other hand, he has indicated that the Academy will cover the travel expenses of academics and finalists who reside outside of Seville.
The mayor of the city, Juan Espadas, has already pointed out the Fibes venue as the ideal venue for the delivery of these awards. The City Council has valued the image impact that the delivery ceremony will generate for the city at around 50 million euros. On the other hand, the event will mean income for Seville's business activity of around 5 million euros.
Silvia Abril and Andreu Buenafuente
The actress and comedian Silvia April (Mataró, 1971) and the comedian, presenter and producer Andreu Buenafuente (Reus, 1965) They will be the masters of ceremonies in this edition of the Goya. Regular tandem in the program Late Motive, will also be a couple on the big night of Spanish cinema, where this professional will make her debut as host, while for Buenafuente it will be her third time hosting and directing the Goya Awards.
Buenafuente was in charge of the galas for the 24th and 25th edition of the awards. With the Catalan as host, the ceremony achieved its audience record in 2010, crossing the barrier of 4.5 million viewers, becoming the most watched in history. He also took on the V Edition of the Gaudí Awards of the Catalan Academy in 2013.
The Board of Directors of the Film Academy has chosen on this occasion not to outsource the production of the next gala, which will be the thirty-third edition.
