Paco Costas, Pioneer of Road Safety on television dies

Costas reached great popularity thanks to the program ‘The Second Opportunity’, broadcast on Spanish Television between 1978 and 1979 conducted by Fernando Navarrete.

The journalist Paco Costas He died yesterday, Wednesday, July 11, in Madrid at age 86 after a long illness.

Member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, he was a pioneer of television road safety with programs such as The Second Chance, emitido entre 1978 y 1979 y realizado por Fernando Navarrete. Se trataba de un espacio divulgativo de TVE con guiones y presentación de Paco Costas, en el que aconsejaba a los telespectadores sobre las correctas prácticas al volante.

En 2011 dejó grabado su testimonio para el archivo documental de la Academia de Televisión que servirá a presentes y futuras generaciones para descubrir, en primera persona, la historia de la televisión en España.
