Sony brings tomorrow to today at IBC

Sony's new proposals at this IBC include a new family of cameras, a camcorder and a 4K LCD HDR reference monitor, in addition to the launch of Intelligent Media Services.

In IBC 2018, Sony presents its latest line of innovative solutions that will allow media companies Capture, edit and share content attractive in 4K, HDR y UHD with audiences around the world.

Visitors to stand 13.A10 are discovering the latest innovations from Sony, including a new range of live cameras, and camcorder and a 4K HDR LCD Reference Monitor, as well as the launch of Intelligent Media Services, along with updates to many existing solutions, such as Venice state-of-the-art film camera or the portfolio IP solutions from Sony. The centerpiece of the stand will be the stunning 5K x 2K glass LED display from Sony.

Intelligent Media Services

To help content creators meet these ever-changing audience expectations, Sony launches Intelligent Media Services, a range of services and microservices designed to transform supply chains from traditional media, unlocking more content value for greater audience engagement and pprovide OTT subscription services.

Sony's portfolio of smart media services includes New Media Solutions (a fully managed digital supply chain service, offering content distribution solutions in a variety of models, depending on customer needs); virtual production (a cloud-hosted, on-demand, subscription-based solution that provides a complete set of production tools for simultaneous, cross-platform professional streaming and requires no infrastructure or upfront investment) and production services Cloud Native (XDCAM Air, an ENG subscription service, and Media Backbone Hive, a cross-platform news production system, are cloud-based solutions that allow content creators to upload and edit material before distributing it across various OTT platforms and services.)

New HDC cameras

At IBC 2018, Sony introduces four new live cameras, expanding and evolving the Sony's popular HDC family.

The next generation of system cameras (HDC-P50, HDC-3500) features the world's first 2/3-inch 4K global shutter system and three CMOS sensors, and the new HD HDR optical block (HDC-3100/HDC-3170). The new cameras offer content creators unprecedented flexibility and reliability, plus the uncompromised premium 4K/HD HDR image quality they expect from Sony solutions. Additionally, Sony will introduce a new unit Triax camera control (CCU), the HDCU-3170.

New reference monitor

Sony also announces a new 31-inch Grade 1 reference monitor, the BVM-HX310, which offers accurate color reproduction and high contrast performance to give professional content creatives the confidence to make critical image decisions. The launch of the new reference monitor also marks the introduction of the brand's new technology Sony Trimaster HX.

The BVM-HX310 is capable of accurately reproducing images down to individual pixels thanks to a combination of Sony's dedicated, dedicated panel and its newly developed display processing technology. It is also fully capable of playing 4K and High Dynamic Range (HDR) content, supporting industry-standard brightness of up to 1,000 nits in full screen and a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1 for HDR productions.

Improvements in Venice

For film and fiction productions, Sony is expanding the creative capabilities of its Venice flagship camera through a new expansion system and a firmware update. The new extension system greatly improves Venice's mobility and operability when filming with stabilizers, underwater housings, 3D/VR platforms or other motionless filming.

Additionally, the Venice firmware will be updated to version 3.0 to improve the camera's shooting and recording capabilities. The update will offer a new X-OCN XT recording profile, two new picture modes at 6K 2.39:1 and 5.7K 16:9, switchable 6G/12G-SDI output, caching recording and wireless remote control when used with the CBK-WA02 adapter. Both the extension system and the firmware update will be available in February 2019.

New addition to the NXCAM family

At IBC 2018, Sony also presents its new NXCAM handheld camcorder, the HXR-NX200. Designed with the needs of professional videographers and content creators in mind, the latest camcorder is capable of delivering 4K images with hyper-realistic color reproduction.

Sony's 1.0-type Exmor R CMOS image sensor with 14.2 megapixels makes it possible to achieve high sensitivity and deliver superior image quality in 4K. Plus, thanks to the large, high-resolution sensor, content creators can effortlessly achieve superior image quality when working in HD. Additionally, the new NXCAM camcorder also offers users the flexibility to record in 4K and cut HD content during post production.

IP Live

Sony has also announced at IBC updates to its exciting portfolio of IP Live solutions and professional audio solutions, along with major customer announcements including both leading European and global content creators and broadcasters.
