Seven films will compete for the XII RTVE-OTRA Look at the San Sebastián International Film Festival
Two ribbons of the official section, one of Latin horizons, two of New Directors and two pearls opt for this award that recognizes cinema on issues close to the female world.
Seven films will compete for the XII RTVE-OTRA LOOK Award, award that the corporation delivers every year to feature films that deal topics close to the female world, directed, interpreted or written by women. Or also for men who show in their films a special sensitivity to the world of women. It will be delivered on September 29 during the closing ceremony of the 66th edition of the Festival.
The jury is formed by the director of content, channels and production of RTVE programs, Toni Sevilla; Esther García, producer of El Deseo and National Cinematography Award; and Cistina who, who is coordinator of the Gipuzkoa Coopera project of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa and an advisor to development and equality cooperation.
Among the candidates this year, two official section titles: Baby, de Liu Jie (China); y The innocent, by Simon Jaquemet (Switzerland-Germany). One of Latin horizons, The heirs, by Marcelo Martinessi (Paraguay, Germany, Brazil, Uruguay, Norway and France). In New Directors participate The cameraman, by Lila Aviles (Mexico) and The third wife, by Ash Mayfair (Vietnam); And of pearls, Roma, by Alfonso Cuarón (Mexico) and Three faces, by Jafar Panahi (Iran)
As in previous editions, the prize involves the acquisition of the winning film rights. The tapes that compete for the prize are selected by the festival from which they are released in each edition. Last year she was awarded Until the guard, of Xavier Getlar (France).
The RTVE-OTRA Look Award has fallen to its previous editions in films that have later been awarded international festivals or the Oscar, such as Iranian Nader and Simin. A separation, by Asghar Farhadi, Oscar for Best Non -English Speech; Precious, by Lee Daniels, winner of two Oscar; Frozen River, by Courtney Hunt, candidate for the Oscars; either Buddha exploded by shame, by Hana Makhmalfaf, with two awards in Berlin 2008. The 2016 winner was Bar Bahar (In Between)by Maysaloum Hamoud (Israel-Froncia).
