4K Summit 2017

The 4K Summit, which is celebrated on the days November 7, 8 and 9 at the Malaga Digital Content Pole, has made public today its definitive agenda, which consolidates itself as the most important international meeting of Technology experts and producers of Ultra High Definition (UHD) Content.

In total they will be twenty presentations and seven panels in which reports, proposals and visions will be offered on this new technology, which for three days brings together in Malaga the best speakers from other international forums such as NAB in Las Vegas, IBC in Amsterdam, MIPCOM and MIPTV in Cannes, and the Lucca Forum, among others.

In the opinion of Medina Media Events, the organizer of the meeting, this year's agenda exceeds that of 2017 and further raises the level of speakers and the number of sponsors.

The inaugural session, on Wednesday the 7th, will feature the participation as speakers of the president of Movistar+, Sergio Osle; Hans Hoffmann, head of the Media Fundamentals and Technological Production Unit of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU); from the senior producer of the Natural History unit of the BBC british, Colin Jackson; and engineer Hiroyasu Masuda, Senior Manager of the 8K Department at the Japanese NHK.

Furthermore, the Korean multinational Samsung, one of the main sponsors of the event along with Movistar, will be represented by Nacho Monge, TV & AV Marketing Manager en España; y la francesa Eutelsat by its vice president of New Formats, Michel Chabrol.

The consultant Mohammed Hamza, senior analyst at the North American multinational Kagan, a division of Standard & Poors Global Market Intelligence, will be in charge of offering 4K Summit attendees the current “photography” of 4K worldwide.

RTVE, Movistar+ y Vestel They will share with attendees their vision of the arrival of 4K in homes thanks to connected televisions.

The importance of audio and music in Ultra High Definition will be addressed in this first day by Yannick Dumartineix, of the Swiss Radio Television, and for the German Fraunhofer, with its Business Development Director, Alfonso Carrera.

The second day, Thursday the 8th, will be dedicated in its first hours to sports. The CEO of the French production company HBS, Francis Tellier, which in collaboration with FIFA organized the television coverage of the 2018 World Cup in Russia, will open the space dedicated to the production of live sports in 4K-UHD.

Sony, through Norbert Paquet, will tell its experience as the brand chosen as the main supplier of cameras for the World Cup in Russia, which was the first major global event produced entirely in 4K-HDR.

Next, a panel with Ian Nock (Ultra High Definition World Forum), Guillermo Jimenez (Olympic Broadcast Services), Mickael Raulet (Atem) and Emili Planas (Mediapro), will review the 4K experiences this 2018 in other events such as the PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games (Korea), Roland Garros (France) and LaLiga (Spain).

The presentations of Ian Lowe (Dolby), Miguel Ángel González (Huawei), Stefan Hofmann (Panasonic), Klaus Weber (Grass Valley), Salvador Luna (Fujinon) y Carlos Castan (Canon) will complete the morning session from the manufacturers' point of view.

In the afternoon, it will be time to learn about new technological solutions from multinationals such as Movistar (Ruben Mellado), Nokia (Alvaro Villegas), AJA (Kevin King) and the advantages of 5G from Rohde&Schwarz (Juan Pachon), Cellnex (Xavi Redon) e Hispasat (Daniel Castro).

In addition, a final block of conferences focused on the new horizons that open up for Ultra High Definition (UHD) content will allow you to listen to French. Olivier Chiabodo (The Explorers Organisation), to Italian Mirko Mastropietro (Sky Italy) and into Spanish Carlos Díez de la Lastra (The Rocks Marbella).

Precisely, Les Roches and Medina Media Events, organizer of the 4K Summit, will offer a cocktail on Thursday night to present SUTUS (Space & Underwater Tourism Universal Summit), the first international summit on space and underwater tourism, which will take place in Marbella on March 20 and 21, 2019.

Finally, on the third day, on Friday the 9th, the star of the 4KSummit will be Thierry Fautier, the president of the World Ultra High Definition Forum (UHD Forum).

Fautier will offer his lecture on Where is 4K now and where is it going?. Next, the Director of Communication of the UHD Forum, Benjamin Schwarz, will explain the 4K Ecosystem Map at an industrial and standards level around the world.

Paul Gray, principal analyst at the British multinational consulting firm IHS Markit (with more than 16,000 professionals on five continents), will summarize the most important headlines left by the fourth edition of the 4K Summit and offer its forecasts on the evolution of 4K in the coming years.

4K Americas

The final touch of the 4K Summit 2018 will have the proper name of Colombia, country that will host the first edition of 4K Americas on July 9 and 10, 2019, the Latin American edition of the 4K Summit.

The CEO of extend, Vanessa Bernard, will moderate a panel in which senior executives from the National Television Authority and Caracol Television will participate.

María Camila Villamizar (ANTV) y Johanna Rueda (Snail) will debate the empowerment of women in television, Colombia's commitment to the Digital Content Economy and 4K content, and its support for 4K Americas.
